Talked to the Greensburg folks last night. I can’t wait to see them.
We’re busy today at work. It must be time for papers in summer school as I’ve had lots of reference requests. People have trouble understanding that we are not an academic library and therefore do not carry extensive holdings of scholarly journals. Distance learning has a long way to go to catch up to the classroom experience. I see so many frustrated and confused DL students here. They want to get an education, and that’s commendable, but no one has bothered to teach them how to do research and write a paper. If I hear one more person tell me that they don’t “get” Dewey Decimal, I’m gonna scream. (And they ask what we go to library school for, sheesh). Actually for sheer snarkiness, the spouses are worse than the soldiers. There is a real culture of riding on the coattails here. It’s very interesting.
Oh well, better stop sniping for now.
