The two sweetest word in the English Language are..

“Case dismissed”

I love Captain District Attorney! (He really is a Captain, too). We got to the courthouse, went through the metal detector thingy, saw ALL the other people. (Which confirms the theory that Fayetteville is the source of all bad drivers. Hey, I can be smug. I got caught with a 1 month expired license. It wasn’t a driving offense, just a paperwork one.) We stood in line to talk to Captain District Attorney. He looked at our citation, asked if all we had was an expired license (which we did), asked if I had a current one (which I did), and dismissed the case (hooray!). We had to hang around then for about an hour and a half for the judge to come in and make it official (which he did), and then we left (whew!). I have definitely learned my lesson (this time), but I would have liked to see some of the real cases. They were all misdemeanors, mostly traffic offenses, and I’ve never seen how a real court works. I never get picked for jury duty :P. Well, no jury in this case anyway, just the judge and about 500 lawyers (I may be exaggerating). A fair number of the folks came with their defense lawyers, and the lawyers hung out waiting for the cases to come up. It was interesting and I could appreciate it more once I knew I was off the hook.

So, then back home so Mr. Tom could get some sleep and I could do some more eyelets and now to work. Tomorrow’s going to be a long day, but when it’s over, we’re free!
