AF Griffins

I wish I had gotten a picture of this, but “entry point + military base + camera=not such a great Idea, Bob” but anyway, as we came in to work this morning, (we cut in through our local AF base as it saves us time and traffic)  who should we see standing there and waving at the cars in the checkpoint but a guy in a griffin costume.  Really quite a good one.  The local AF post’s mascot is a griffin, to go with Ft. Bragg’s dragon.  I think he was there to promote their Halloween events over the weekend, but as we didn’t ask the gate guards, we’ll never know.  And because the Air Force is a class organization, there was ANOTHER one at the outgoing gate.  Sometimes I love my job.

Oh, and we got to see a C-130 come in to land over our heads on the way in, too.  Busy day.  The military really DOES do more before 9 am than the rest of us do all day.

*Achoo*

Well the weather here has started to change.  We went from mid to high 80’s and high humidity on Saturday to barely 70’s and rain on Monday.  Of course the temp. dive took place while we were sleeping out in an unheated cabin, so my sinuses are rebelling.  Other than the constantly running nose and sneezing, though, I’m fairly good.  Our LARP weekend was fun and we came away with lots of ideas for fun costuming to make and donate.   The Woobs is chomping at the bit to make some foam weapons now, so we ordered the supplies online last night.

Today we have an appointment to talk to our DSS worker about our plans and progress in the fostering/adoption process.  We’ve both been looking forward to this, so I hope it goes well.  We still have some work to do around the house, but I’d like to take my time and do it right.

The Keed, a little older–and Zombies!

Happy Birthday to my sister, .  She’s now officially old enough to know better (I so decree).  I sent her b-day stuff with her Ren. Fest costume, which I will post about sooner or later, I promise.  Hopefully she is enjoying it.

And while I miss some things about living in the ‘Burgh, I don’t know if this would be awful or awesome.  Hopefully someone who is living there will go and give us a report.

Busy weekend in the imaginary world.  LARP until Sunday and then a long D&D session on Monday.  And we have our first in-depth meeting with the DSS folks re: foster/adoptive kid stuff on Tuesday.  I hope they will have read our profile by then.  I did spend many hours writing it.

Weekend

Had a quiet weekend.  Friday night was gaming at Chez Us with the boyz.  I was still playing my substitute Druid char and the variety was nice.  Saturday saw a trip to the salon for new hair and the arrival of the cups and mugs for next week’s Tavern.  Sunday was napping and lots and lots of TV, some bad some indifferent.  I also footled around on Facebook a fair amount.   I was able to get my online photo album linked to it before logging off last night.

This week is going to be rather busy with work and getting ready for LARP on the weekend.  Much food must be purchased and prepped.  But we can do it!

Koolade re: drinking of

And last night I succumbed to the slight urgings of others and signed up for Facebook.  I’m Jenn Kuntz on there because apparently it isn’t happy with people being anonymous.  I’m not going to forget about LJ, in fact, I may just forward my posts from here to there so I’m not repeating myself.  But it is amusing.  And complicated.  It’s got as many bells and whistles as an ice cream truck.

Oh, and apparently everyone I’ve EVER known (in RL, not in digits, of course) has an account over there.  It was like a little walk down memory alley and then I got mugged by my hippocampus.
