Things that are awesome: Super Hero Squad Show

You can blame the Woobs for this one.  He finally got me to watch last year’s Wolverine movie over the weekend and this triggered my interest in the upcoming Deadpool movie, so while I was Googling about Wade, I somehow got on to Squirrel Girl and this led me to…The Super Hero Squad Show (no she’s not in it, but she gets a name drop at one point and well, y’know…internet stuff)

Totally awesome, although somewhat lacking in Deadpoolness.  He’s a little intense for the setting.  It’s definitely a kids show, but it reaches deep into the Marvel mythos so true believers’ll be happy too.

So the premise is that Iron Man and Dr. Doom were fighting over this thing called the Infinity Sword.  It broke.  Shards (called [irritatingly] “Fractals” here) get scattered everywhere and the two teams race to collect and reassemble them.  Tony’s team consists of Wolverine, Hulk, Thor, Silver Surfer and Falcon.  Doom’s got MODOK and Abomination.  Everyone’s super-deformed and adorable, based on the adorable SD Marvel/Hasbro toyline which I totally should have been collecting.  The voice cast is top notch and includes two of our most recent Starscreams (Charles Adler and Tom Kenny [Charles Adler’s Doom is HYSTERICAL]) and the guest stars are abundant.  So far we’ve had Cap’t America (who is OLD, although he doesn’t look or act like it), Storm, Ms Marvel, Thing and Fin Fang Foom and I’m only on the 4th episode.

It reminds me of TF:Animated in both the humor and the inclusion of the franchise’s most beloved characters.  I’m really enjoying it and so I thought I’d share it with y’all.  I hope the new Hasbro/Discovery channel will do something half this creative and fun with TF’s in their new lineup, that is if they don’t continue TF:A, which I personally would prefer.

Now to see if I can pick up some of those adorable toys.

Sir Apnea

So, the sleep test went about how I expected it to.  I was uncomfortable, kept waking up and woke in the morning all groggy and with a sore throat.  Apparently Sir Apnea is still hanging around.  Now I have a week to wait for the neurologist to read the test, then another visit to the clinic where they’ll put me on the machine and futz with the pressure to see what’s the most comfortable.  I’m hoping to score a new machine out of this as mine is almost 10 years old at this point.  I’ve got my fingers crossed for variable pressure and a heated humidifier!

Blogging from the hotel…er hospital (not mine)

Dude!  This hospital is awesome!  They have WiFi and they gave me diet ginger ale.

I’m here for a sleep test, no worries.  Just a check-up to see if I need to have my equipment adjusted due to weight loss.  The nurse is very nice and promised to take a picture of me with all my wires on so y’all can see me.

Anyway, it’s like a nice, very expensive motel, down to the “Sanitized for Your Protection” band on the toilet bowl.  Sweet.

Gotta get going so she can strap me in.  TTFN.

Holiday lull

We had a nice, quiet X-mas.  I got a new dress dummy made.  I’ll try to remember to take and post some pictures once I get it covered.  We also cleaned up about half of the house and played a LOT of video games.  I’m enjoying the Wii, although for some reason I’m getting weird leg and neck cramps (they may be unrelated) that make everyday use of the Wii Fit program kind of painful.  I’m going to try stretching before and after exercising and see if that improves things any.

I has Baklava at work!

So while I’m not feeling 100% festive yet, it is one of the advantages of the season that people start bringing in gobs of nom-y food to share. I’m trying to be restrained, but man is it difficult. We’re WAY beyond simple cookies at this point. I think I’ll bring in some cheese and veggies tomorrow to try and stem the sugar tide.

Weekend is over, so sad

Honestly I just need one more day.

We did much crafting and some cleaning this weekend. We’re prepping for foam sword madness this coming weekend, so costumes and other things were made. We also had a nice little D&D night with the gaming boyz on Friday. This week is crazy food prep and then we can decompress for the holidays. I’m really looking forward to two four day weekends in a row. I think I’m going to spend my time between updating my wardrobe and remodeling our spare bedroom for child habitation.

Class phase done!

We had our last MAPPS (pre-fostering/adoption) class last night. This means we’ll have our Thursday evenings back (hooray). We still have to either attend or get on our own some First Aid and CPR training. We’re waiting to hear from the county when the class will be. We also have to get on the stick and work to renovate the room that will serve as the child’s bedroom as well as adding some additional safety equipment to bring our house up to code. It looks like this will be our project for over the holidays as the certification process will take at least that long.

Honestly I don’t mind the slowness of the wheels of bureaucracy. This is a big decision and committment for us and I like having the time to discuss it with the Woobs. It is nice to have reached the first milestone, though. Go us!
