Weekend re-cap

A great weekend was had. Gaming on Friday was subdued, but it was great to see Charlie and April and Shane. Camping was very wonderful with fun on the lake and yummy food all ’round. Tiernen got his Mt. Dew and Heinz ketchup back with grace and dignity and we celebrated yesterday with macaroni and cheese and movies.

This week will be busy. I need to prepare at work and at home for my trip next week, get ready (make a banner and swaps stuff) for the Girl Scout Jamboree this weekend, clean the house, exercise, attend the SCA meeting on Thursday, then off to Jamboree on Friday and fly to St. Louis on Monday. Lots to do!

Good game, good golly!

So…super excellent GM Charlie is back in town this week. While he has been gone, he has diligently been fleshing out his campaign world for the enlightenment of all. We are planning the next leg of our super kewl epic (epic in scope, not in level) game, a Crusade, planned by US, against the evil snake guys (Yuan-ti). They are BAD, they make monsters out of regular people, they keep slaves and they practice MAGIC (in this campagin world, only bad guys practice magic, good guys are psionic [and yes, Tiernen did complain about that]). So, mighty Paladin hero Santa Dona Ramona Del Rey, Senora del Faro (Saint Lady Ramona Del Rey, Lady of the Beacon [that’s me]) and her buddies, Tyr Willshaper (Tom) and Thodin (Anthony) and whatever character Shane is playing now will be travelling to the jungles (or maybe the desert) with over 18100 soldiers and knights and stuff to kill snake guys and free slaves and take territory and collect loot. Hooray! Probably not all of that in one night. We’ll have to wait for Charlie to come back for a longer period of time, like two weeks ;)

Also this weekend, SCA camping at Chez Lorrie and Sean and Baronial meeting on Sunday. Some time to rest and back to work (for me) on Monday. Tiernen has Monday off (lucky).

Bi-polar hubby

I don’t know if tiernen is going to be happy or miserable this week. He FINALLY got the new computer tower he’s been saving for, but he lost a bet and has to go a week without ketchup or Mt. Dew. Explain to me why his friends think it’s funny for his bet forfeits to make ME miserable. We had a nice time at the Ren Faire yesterday. Tiernen did a lot of fencing. I did some shopping and saw a few shows. Crafty Celts were not on site, so I’m still torc-less. I may wait and get one at Pennsic. I did get stripey knee length socks and good bread.

I’m thinking of going up to Washington, NC on Thursday to see the sister in concert. I’ll have to take the afternoon off to do so. I’m going to talk to the boss about it today.

Here’s the update

Sorry I haven’t been posting more. I’m having a little attack of ennui.

Let’s see. I had a pretty nice time for Girl Scout training last week. I burned the side of my left hand with hot glue while I was there and it’s now all brown and crusty, but no one died, so that’s good.

We exercised Monday and Wednesday nights. Tuesday was Girl Scouts. They’re working on the sewing badge, so they tried out some machine sewing with a serger and a regular machine. They seemed to have a good time.

Thursday was SCA social night. We hung out at Barnes and Noble and chatted with the luverly SCA folks.

Tonight we’re getting ready for the weekend, mending garb for the Ren Faire and Cub Scout demo. Tomorrow we drive up to Raleigh for the Faire, then back to Fayetteville for the Scouts, then back up to Raleigh on Sunday for more Faire.

Work is keeping me pretty busy during the day. I’m trying to clear the decks for a trip to St. Louis for a conference the last week of the month.

That’s all for now.

Steak and innuendo

We had a nice dinner last night at one of our local steakhouses with Kate and nomadicmedic and deza and tall_man and their younglings. The friends were fun and the food was good. Lots of inappropriate comments were made. I’m sorry more people couldn’t join us. Next time we’ll plan farther in advance.

Guess who?

“Soon we’ll be out among the cold world’s strife,
Soon we’ll be sliding down the razor blade of life.”

“Hearts full of youth,
Hearts full of truth,
Six parts gin, to one part vermouth.”

What do you pray to HIM for?

We watched “Dress to Kill” again the other night and I was reminded that I find the line about “The Gospel according to St. Bastard” to be very funny. So I Dogpiled St. Bastard and found out that there is a band called St. Bastard, more than one LiveJournal calling itself The Gospel according to St. Bastard and a few SCA events for the Feast of St. Bastard. I wonder when his feast day is, April 15? He’d make a good patron saint for some people.

“And Henry VIII, a big hairy king, went up to the Pope and said, “Mr. Pope! I’m gonna marry my first wife, then I’m gonna divorce her. Now, I know what you’re gonna say, but stick with me. My story gets better. Second wife, I’m gonna kill her! Cut her head off. Ah, not expecting that, are we? Third wife gonna shoot her. Fourth wife, put her in a bag. Fifth wife, into outer space. Sixth wife, on a rotissamat. Seventh wife, made out of jam…” and the Pope is saying, “You crazy bugger! You can’t do all this, what are you a Mormon? It’s illegal. What have you been reading? The gospel according to St. Bastard?”–Eddie Izzard

Geek Social Fallacies *Brilliant*

This short pithy article has shed a lot of light for me.  Geek Social Fallacies.  I’m definitely a carrier of GSF 1 and 3, I’m working my way out of 4 right now.  This is mainly through the realization that some of my friends don’t WANT to know one another and that’s all right with me.  tiernen is a big one for GFS 5, probably more than most people would realize.  I think it stems from his not liking to be alone.

Thimk!

At this point, just trying to get through the week (lots of paperwork). Exercise tonight. Payday tomorrow, that will be good, also SCA meeting [potential creepy guy confrontation, not looking forward to that]. Girls lunch on Friday, also short work day *YAY*. We have (scheduled but unconfirmed) gaming Friday night, GS outdoor training on Saturday, Baronial meeting and practice in Raleigh on Sunday, then back to work on Monday. Busy busy busy.

The warm weather is nice, but tough on the wardrobe. I’m not ready to unpack the summer clothes yet, so I’m having to play “How warm will it get today?” with the closet. Sometimes I win (and am comfy) sometimes I lose (and am too hot). Bleah!
